Enough
I am BOLD enough.
I am BRAVE enough.
I am SMART enough.
I am STRONG enough.
I am TALENTED enough.
I am ___________ enough.
Read these aloud. What is it that you need/want that blank line to say? What word jumps out at you? What do you need to believe in the deepest part of your soul about yourself? What do you need to know you are, in order to move forward? What do you feel is lacking or needs to be improved upon before you can share yourself and your message with the world?
Write the word you feel describes what you are missing down. Sit with it. Ask yourself why you think you're lacking in this area? Write down your answer. Pray about it. Ask God to show you how He sees you in this part of yourself. The answer may well surprise you.
The short version of my point is that we already are enough. What we have is enough and what we lack is even more so. Read that last part again. Yes, even though there are things we don't have quite as much of as the next person, that's often where our message is the strongest and the most able to connect with others. Yes, everyone seems to want to emulate the mega-stars with the photo perfect lives. But the people we connect to as humans? Those tend to be the ones we feel a kinship with and find ourselves in. Think of those you follow on social media. They are often the ones sharing not only their success but their broken parts and real life stories as well. I know for myself, the people I have learned the most from have been the ones who were the most real, the most vulnerable. Which is why I unashamedly share my own trials and failings, right alongside my blessings and successes. I want to make it clear to everyone who finds my feed that I am equally a strong believer and follower of Christ, and a stumbling, rough around the edges human. I praise God and I utter curse words. I thank Him for the good and the blessings and I rail and I ask WHY on a regular basis. I hope and pray that by doing so, others will find that they have power inside them to get through whatever life throws their way.
